flights 04:18
as for now we're all surrendering all the homes we used to know the only smiles that were worth remembering were all forgotten long ago and all the times since we last held our hands and all the centuries in between get us lost in all the circumstance we'll never know what it all means if we can't get it right what can we do we could leave here tonight it's up to you
2.
die young 04:52
you pulled your hair back from out the flames held your dreams fast, you thought you could chase through the backyards and neighborhoods til you knew you did whatever you could when you've passed by the break of day past the streetlights that you slept away just believe it all anyway just believe it and you can say no no we will never get old so die young. i knew you back when your eyes were clear since the days when we'd just disappear off the face of the broken earth past the place where we couldn't get hurt and the stars would fall from the trees past our grass stains and bloodied knees we believed it that it could be we believed and you said to me no no we will never get old so die young.

future lives 05:22
i've seen these places before i've left these faces behind i've put my feelings on hold have you forgotten mine i don't know if these words are making any sense. you kept your keys when you called you left your worries behind you kicked your shoes down the hall have you forgotten mine i don't know if these words are making any sense when it's all, said and done. we can fall into the sun and we'll take what we're given if our lives were worth living when's it's all said and done. we dreamed a future too far fake kids born way too fast we should've wished on a star but even they don't last i don't know that these words are making any sense we could've painted a scene of all the things that could be but the best of us both would be the death of me i don't know that these words are making any sense
4.
headlines 03:16
lights and lies fighting fires through the lost sunsets burning bright i have tried to figure out the things that I should forget don't ask why stay a while feel the heat of my hand on your chest just one night safe inside a home made of spider's nests still snow white
5.
you fools you feel you got some living to do you try to say it won't matter you won't get back all the hearts that you're giving away. you hurt you heal you're a prisoner too you see your nights are in tatters you know you can't just forget each day after day that's when you say, that's where i left my mind that's what I wanted to do that's when you say, that's where i left my mind the cries the calls they got a real attitude you know the way that they wanted you to go chasing all the words that you want them to say you lose you laugh you know you better come through The ghosts have said they're all hunting for you Hide your eyes say goodnight so you can push them away that's when you say, that's where i left my mind that's what I wanted to do that's when you say, that's where i left my mind you've been lost at sea oh oh oh you can't recognize your own friends you give the fourth degree oh oh oh that's when you cant even fight through your defense will you feel it's free oh oh oh when there's no place left to run You can't remember the beginnings and ends You can't remember the beginnings and ends
6.
hours 03:30
hours i've been chasing the years for hours, hours i've been living in fear for hours, hours we could build this place of ours, ours left without a trace for hours, hours let it go i've been naming names for hours, hours i've been growing pains for hours, hours we could have put up a fight for hours, hours could have said goodnight for hours, hours let it go then the birds will come watching all the little birds will come watching they'll come watching, watching singing. i've been chasing the years for hours, hours.
7.
wake when you want to wake you know you've slept enough you know make what you want to make til you've made it up you know you know you know take what you want to take you know you can't give up you know so you went off to fight in the holy wars. break what you want to break i know you well enough you know that you'd go off to fight in the holy wars but i still hold on to the things we used to do. but i still come home to the way we left us two. but if you're missing something love, you don't have to crawl upon your knees the ends and ends could always find a way to light your way back home if i was missing something love, you know i'd crawl over the seven seas the ends and ends could always find a way to light my way back home cause i still hold on to the things we used to do. cause i still come home to the way we left us two.
8.
it's getting so i can't remember nothing all the faces fade out of view i don't even know the places that i'm going i've gotten lost in an attitude i can't hear things that people are saying i just see how their lips move i won't even know that we've been talking so can you tell me what's the use when the world breaks down darling and the sirens sound all through the place when the world breaks down darling i will have nothing to lose when the world breaks down except you

about

BONFIRES is a kinship between fellow grievers- the bittersweet happiness that results from burning the things you love and setting them free in the wind.

p.t. fischer (los angeles, us), johan sommarfint (helsingborg, sweden), artur knutson (helsingborg, sweden), and jean ancelet (paris, fr), met while backpacking across europe. all were escaping a crisis: p.t., a vicious breakup; johan and artur, the death of a childhood friend; and jean, the divorce of his parents. this was a record that was never supposed to be. written on trains and fields over an entire meandering spring, and finally recorded in the basement of johan and artur's house, the result is "future lives", a record of hope and melancholy, both for things happened and things yet to.

"we all live in awareness that one day, we'll look back to where we are now and it will be one or the other, nostalgia or regret. and these polaroids of where who how we will be will wilt and wane. in these ever changing, these future lives" p.t. fischer
